Claro Brasil and Ericsson have conducted a 5G network technology test at the Futurecom 2016 exhibition in Sao Paulo.
The 5G test were conducted by utilizing four 100MHz channels in the 15GHz band (14.7GHz-15.1GHz), as authorised by the National Telecommunications Agency (Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes, Anatel).
Andre Sarcinelli, Claro Brasil’s director of engineering, said, “Anatel only authorised the use of the 15GHz band here, if we could demonstrate [5G] in the open”. The demonstration achieved throughput of 4.5Gbps, however, Claro and Ericsson are confident that future tests using the same spectrum band will be able to deliver transmission speeds of up to 12Gbps.
Andre Sarcinelli said 5G mobile telephony will allow traffic data that is hundred times faster than that offered today and will enable the connection of 100 times more devices.
