Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) has installed the first 5G compatible base station in Latvia.
LMT has partnered with Nokia for the development and testing of 5G technologies and to be among the first to introduce 5G in Europe. The first 5G connection station has been installed at the new Natural Sciences Centre of the University of Latvia in Tornakalns.
“It is symbolical for the first 5G connection station to be set up at the University of Latvia – an institution with strong academic and research traditions. Latvia as a country of smart technologies has clever people, innovative technologies and powerful partnership in the base of its development potential. We will continue establishing new 5G-capable stations across all of Latvia this year,” said LMT president Juris Binde.
LMT also cooperates with Riga Technical University in research of 5G technologies and introduction of usable models.
