MTS expands LTE network in Murmansk

Russian mobile operator MTS has expanded the coverage of its LTE network in  the Murmansk region in 2016, covering 17 additional settlements and increasing its footprint by 150 percent.Broadband at up to 75 Mbps is available for 600,000 residents in the region. The operator used the 1,800 MHz band for the network expansion.

LTE services became available in Olenegorsk, Gadzhiyevo, Snezhnogorsk, Polyarny, Zaozyorsk, Umba, Polyarnye-Zori, Kovdor, Alakurtti and other settlements. The services had earlier been available in Murmansk, Severomorsk, Monchegorsk, Kirovsk and Kandalaksha.  LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services from MTS are available in the city of Murmansk.
