Reliance Jio targets 1 million recharge outlets at launch

Reliance Jio Infocomm is planning to launch its 4G services in the coming months and the telco is setting up 500,000 activation outlets and close to 1 million recharge outlets.

Reliance Jio has managed to get 1.5 million users after it launched trail launch through Reliance Industries’ employees from December 27 last year.

Reliance Jio has managed to get 1.5 million users after it launched trail launch through Reliance Industries’ employees from December 27 last year. Jio 4G users are consuming 26 GB of data and 355 minutes of voice per month.

It is most likely that during its full commercial launch, Reliance Jio will offer cheap 4G data and voice with unlimited voice calls to attract users add quickly build subscriber base.

Pre-empting the upcoming challenge from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone are offering customers cheaper data and free voice calls. Both operators, along with Idea Cellular, have reduced data tariffs by up to 67 per cent.

Bharti Airtel has announced unlimited voice calling in two new plans. Airtel’s new Infinity plan offers unlimited calling along with 100 SMSs a day, 1GB 3G/4G data and subscription to Wynk Music and Wynk Movies for Rs 1,199 a month. The Rs 1,599 plan offers 5GB 3G/4G data.

Airtel said that it was making calls free for customers and offering them flexibility to combine this with their data requirements.

Vodafone is offering 10-minute free calling to customers whose calls are interrupted because of any reason. “With benefits running on both voice and data, we want our customers to enjoy the experience of Vodafone SuperNet,” said Sandeep Kataria, director, consumers, Vodafone India.
