Telkomsel, together with Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia and ZTE as technology provider, has launched 4.5G network in nine cities in Indonesia.
Telkomsel is using 20MHz of bandwidth in the 1800MHz band combined with 4×4 MIMO technology for its 4.5G deployment. These technologies enable faster data access over 4.5G network, double the 4G technology as well as very low latency, less than 10 milliseconds compared to the 4G technology.
The operator said that the latest upgrade is part of a wider commitment to provide reliable broadband networks that already comprise more than 5,200 eNode B (4G BTS) serving more than 12 million 4G LTE customers in over 180 city districts in Indonesia.
Director of Telkomsel Network Sukardi Silalahi said that the launch of 4.5G technology is a step towards the implementation of 5G technology in Indonesia.
